STEMPOINT
Across the UK, a network of STEMPOINT contract holders (co-ordinated and managed nationally by STEMNET) play a vital role in providing impartial information and guidance to schools and colleges about a range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) activities that enhance and enrich the curriculum.
In Greater Merseyside, the STEMPOINT contract is managed by RTC North. As a new ‘STEMPOINT contract holder’ since the start of 2009, RTC North will work in partnership with education, business and other organisations to offer all Greater Merseyside schools and colleges STEM related enhancement and enrichment activities that cover a wide spectrum of STEM topics.
STEMPOINT contract holders:
- can offer advice and guidance to teachers on which schemes may be suitable for them
- can provide details of, or facilitate contact with, the person or organisation best suited to meeting teachers’ specific needs
- can help to organise industry visits and placements for students and teachers
SEAs Management contract holders:
- identify professional with STEM skills to become Science and Engineering Ambassadors (SEAs)
- link SEAs with their local schools and colleges to act as role models and help inspire and engage young people about the value of STEM in their daily lives
- help local STEM employers to engage with schools and colleges in their communities
