Daresbury Science Centre
As part of the Science & Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) responsibility to promote science in society, several programmes are run out of the STFC Daresbury Laboratory, Runcorn.
On site, there is a science centre for school children to visit, with educational workshops offered, tours of the laboratory facilities, and a series of lectures.
Off site, a roadshow involving a portable planetarium (StarLab) can be taken into in schools to educate schoolchildren about Astronomy, Biology and Geology.
Also, Daresbury Sky View will be online four times a month late 2008 / early 2009, enabling children to see what the telescope at Daresbury is seeing, along with the opportunity to email the telescope operators and ask to point the telescope at any desired celestial features.
