
Bankfield School
The Bankfield School in Widnes has Specialist Science College Status, and as such offers many facilities and courses for pupils to experience enriched learning in Science.
The school has eight modern laboratories with interactive whiteboards. There is a transition programme for Year 5 and 6 primary school pupils, in which they are given the opportunity to undertake science investigations using the school facilities, ensuring curriculum progression.
At Key Stage 3, the national curriculum is followed, and at Key Stage 4, pupils can take physics, chemistry and biology GCSEs (astronomy GCSE is also offered). There is an annual science week, where cross-curricular activities are ran, and students can take national BETSET / GETSET courses in Engineering.
