Perceptive Engineering Ltd. design, develop and commission intelligent real-time monitoring software systems for a variety of process industries, including pulp & paper, nutritional powders, water treatment and pharmaceutical sectors.

The software incorporates multivariate statistical modelling, process model-based control and data pre-processing facilities all within a single environment.  Along with a consultancy service, complete turnkey solutions using start-of-the-art software can be developed in conjunction with universities and research teams.

Formed as a spin-out company from the University of Manchester, Perceptive Engineering Ltd. relocated from Lymm, Cheshire to their present premises in Runcorn at the Daresbury Science & Innovation Campus (DSIC) in 2006, and now employ 12 people.

The company cites many benefits of being located at DSIC, including the regular networking and seminar events run by the centre, the high-class image of the facilities and the excellent transport links offered by Halton.  Also, by working in close proximity to other innovative businesses at DSIC, Perceptive Engineering Ltd. has established working links with another DSIC resident involved in control systems integration and consultancy, and is keen to form closer business relationships with other tenants.

Perceptive Engineering Ltd. has been highly successful in securing funding for research and development (R&D) of their software products.  Since 2003, they have obtained three GRAND awards (BERR Grants for R&D), and made use of two Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, in collaboration with the University of Manchester.

Also, in 2004, Perceptive Engineering received £375,000 in funding from the Northwest Equity Fund enabling them to expand the development programme of innovative monitoring and control solutions for industry, helping them to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage.
